The physical properties of Krion® LUX solid surface make it highly resistant to all types of stains: the surface is practically non-porous, and highly resistant against various chemical products.

Having said that, if the surface does get stained, it's a good idea to act fast. Maintaining the surface properly is the best way of making sure cleaning remains simple and effective over time.

Let's take a look at some steps to follow to give your Krion® LUX solid surface a thorough clean.

How to clean your Krion® solid surface

It's easy to keep Krion® LUX looking as good as new: thanks to its low porosity, it won't absorb any dirt, and the material can also be repaired or regenerated.

The material is incredibly simple to clean and maintain - which is why it's an ideal choice for worktops in bathrooms, kitchens and retail spaces. Thanks to its sterile qualities, Krion® LUX is ideally-suited to areas healthcare where hygiene is paramount, such as hospitals, laboratories or clinics.

If you want to keep your surface well maintained, free from marks or stains, remove any accidental scratches and keep if looking as good as new, here's what you need to do.

Daily maintenance

Krion® LUX is an easy-to-clean material. But that doesn't mean you don't need to look after it to keep it in top condition.

A little bit of work on a regular basis will keep it looking pristine for longer.

  • If you get a mark or stain on your Krion® LUX surface, clean it immediately before it has time to set in - that will make it easier and quicker to clean.
  • All you need is a cloth, sponge or microfibre cloth to wipe the surface down daily and get rid of any easy-to-treat marks.

Cleaning common stains

You can get a Krion kit with special cleaning agents and tools for cleaning and maintaining your solid surface.

If you get a common household stain on your Krion® LUX solid surface, here's how to get rid of it completely:

  • Clean the stain with water and a paper towel or cloth, and remove as much residue as possible.
  • Moisten a cloth and apply a mild cleaning solution - avoid anything with a strong acid base. If you're using the Krion cleaning kit, take the green cloth and apply the special K-CLEANER cleaner to the stain.
  • Rub in a circular motion, and then dry the surface.

If the stain persists, repeat with the cleaning solution or K-CREAM,using enough to cover half the stain.

  • Moisten the green cloth and rub the surface in a circular motion without applying any pressure.
  • When the stain has vanished, clean the whole Krion® LUX surface with K-CREAM from the cleaning kit to give it a clean, uniform finish.
  • Remove any excess cream with the green cloth and rinse with water.

Finally, it's important to dry the surface well to finish off the cleaning process. Use the grey drying cloth from the Cleaning KIT to do this.

Cleaning stubborn stains

It's much easier to remove stubborn stains from Krion® LUX solid surface than other materials. Just follow these steps:

  • Apply a microparticle cleaning product to the stain (or K-CREAM where applicable) and moisten a clean white scouring pad.
  • Rub the stain in a circular motion until it disappears.
  • Repeat if required, applying a little pressure.
  • Finally, remove any excess cleaning fluid with the green cloth, rinse with water, and dry the surface well using the grey drying cloth.

If you can see a difference in the finish between the part of the surface you've cleaned and the rest, you can repeat the process all around the treated area. This will ensure a uniform finish, leaving no trace of the cleaning process.

Regeneration capacity

Krion® LUX will scratch, like any other material used for surfaces. But unlike others, scratches on Krion® LUX are easy to repair. The material can be regenerated: a simple polish will leave it looking as good as new.

Krion® LUX can be regenerated if it's been scratched, restoring it to its original condition.

If the scratch is superficial, you just need to polish the surface evenly to restore it. Krion supplies a regeneration set with all the tools you need to regenerate any surface damage in-situ. The way you treat your Krion® LUX will depend on the finish you've gone from: gloss surfaces will need to be regenerated by a professional.
