What is LED backlighting in commercial stores?

Backlighting is a technique that allows light to pass through Krion® solid surface, creating striking lighting effects. This property is enhanced by the translucency of certain models and the possibility of modifying the thickness of the material, which controls the amount of light that passes through the surface. The result is precise lighting that brings a unique and enveloping atmosphere to the commercial space.

In addition to its aesthetic impact, backlighting with Krion® offers a practical solution for highlighting architectural elements, creating dynamic signage or customising the environment according to the needs of the establishment. With their energy efficiency, LEDs not only provide an attractive option, but also meet sustainability standards, aligning with current demands for responsible business practices.

Imagine a counter with a backlit logo that invites customers to come closer, or a wall that changes its tone throughout the day, enhancing the customer experience while reinforcing the identity of the premises. Anything is possible with the Krion® LUX series.

Ideas for backlighting retail projects with Krion®

Backlighting with Krion® offers endless possibilities for designing commercial spaces that not only attract attention but also create a unique and appealing atmosphere. The most translucent Krion® series, such as the Light Series, Opale Series, Luxury Series, and Nature Series, stand out for their ability to allow light to pass through in a controlled manner, creating stunning visual effects that transform any space into a bright and immersive environment.

LIGHT SERIES

The Light series is perfect for people seeking purity and brightness. With five colours designed to maximise the effects of backlighting, this collection can transform any commercial space into a bright and welcoming environment, ideal for shops that want a modern and minimalist aesthetic.

Extremely bright, it is ideal for designing a multitude of illuminated decorative elements, both on straight and curved surfaces.

OPALE SERIES

The Opale series is a tribute to the dynamics of water and light. Its colours, which include shades of white and grey, offer backlighting that recreates the serene movement of water, ideal for spaces that want to convey calm and sophistication.

Born from the union between movement and light, its colours reflect beautiful veins of light that simulate the flow of water. Its backlighting power enables you to work with different compositions, where light passes through the textured surface to create new lines that were once almost imperceptible to the eye.

LUXURY SERIES

Nacar, Beige Marfil and Pompei from the Luxury series imitate the beauty of natural stone with a subtle touch of light that can elevate any interior design, from sumptuous jewellery shops to fashion boutiques, where luxury and exclusivity are key.

NATURE SERIES

White Nature from the Nature series is ideal for spaces that want to maximise brightness and a sense of spaciousness. Its backlit quality makes it perfect for reception desks and any other area that you want to highlight in a business establishment.

Its white colour, natural appearance and high percentage of recycled material make it ideal for use as a backlit panel, or even in backlit bar counters.

There are other backlit colours, such as:

  • The colour WHITE STAR from the Krion® STAR series, which, together with its metallic reflective details, is perfect for designer settings with spectacular visual nuances and for use as a backlit display.
  • The colour CRYSTAL WHITE from the ROYAL series stands out for its elegance and luminosity, as well as its natural stone appearance.
  • The colour RC Krion® K·Life 1100 from the SNOW series, with 5% post-consumer recycled material, is adaptable to any designer project, offering a warm ambient light in bath or kitchen worktops or even in interior tiles.

How backlit colours behave on our Solid Surface

The magic of Krion® backlighting lies in its ability to diffuse light uniformly and spectacularly. From a more technical point of view, when creating a low-relief surface with a thickness of 4 mm, the solid surface allows light to pass through, generating different designs that are projected through the chosen colour.

Thanks to this and the appropriate choice of thickness, the backlit colours of Krion® allow light transmission that can be adapted to create subtle effects or bold visual statements. The material's ability to be moulded and thermoformed also opens up a world of creative possibilities, allowing designers to explore new shapes and applications in their projects.

The translucency increases as the thickness decreases; this is the same for all colours that generate this effect. Obviously, the colours with the greatest capacity for initial backlighting are much sharper, and, when you decrease the thickness, they allow much more light to pass through.

In short, Krion® not only offers a functional and aesthetically versatile material for designing commercial spaces, but also provides a powerful tool for creating atmospheres that can completely transform the customer's shopping experience.
