When an architectural studio such as Fran Silvestre Arquitectos works with a material like KRION®, the creative possibilities expand considerably. This residential project in Bétera, Valencia, is a clear example of the studio’s ability to transform a complex idea into a refined architectural form.

According to the studio:

“The project began with a privileged location on a golf course on the outskirts of Valencia.

The design was developed through elliptical lines that define the house, maximising what the planning regulations allowed whilst reducing the visual impact of the building on its surroundings. The result is a single volume with a continuous façade, which appears to contain just one floor. Its visually aerodynamic character draws the eye towards the depth of the neighbouring landscape.

Inside the house, the spaces are organised around a central void where the main circulation core is located. The service areas, installations and kitchen help rationalise the curved geometry of the lower floor, which opens directly onto the garden. The upper level, containing the bedrooms, and the basement, which opens onto the patio, complete the spatial organisation of the home.

The concrete structure of the lower floor supports the curved upper volume of the night area through four main supports. This structure is clad with a monolithic ventilated façade made with KRION®, the Solid Surface from PORCELANOSA Group. Thanks to a simple curvature that does not require thermoforming, the material adapts to the geometry of the building. The rest of the materials move within a palette that ranges from white to black, passing through different shades of grey.

KRION® is not only present on the ventilated façade created by Butech, a company belonging to the PORCELANOSA Group. It can also be found throughout the interior, where it has been used for bathroom worktops, shower trays, bathroom furniture, a dining table and the kitchen worktop, all produced with KRION® by VF Superficies Solidas.
