KRION PORCELANOSA Solid Surface is an advanced material developed to meet the requirements of demanding projects across different sectors. Its wide range of applications has led KRION, together with PORCELANOSA Group, to obtain important international certifications that support its use in specialised environments.

One of these recognitions is the IMO Certificate, issued under the framework of the International Maritime Organization. This certification is especially relevant for the nautical and maritime sector, where safety, protection and environmental responsibility are essential.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is a specialised agency of the United Nations that promotes cooperation between governments and the shipping industry. Its work focuses on improving maritime safety, strengthening security and helping to prevent marine pollution.

As the global authority responsible for setting standards in maritime transport, the IMO establishes measures that affect many areas of the sector, including ship design, construction, equipment, operation, staffing and dismantling. The aim is to ensure that international shipping continues to be safe, efficient and more respectful of the marine environment.

KRION has obtained this certification as part of its commitment to offering a material that combines design possibilities with comfort, safety and technical performance. The certificate authorises its use in vessel equipment, opening up new possibilities for nautical and maritime projects.

The required tests were carried out by RINA Group, an independent institute accredited by the IMO and one of the few organisations worldwide authorised to perform this type of assessment.

It is also worth highlighting that KRION achieved the IMO certification with its standard material. Other internationally recognised solid surface brands have obtained similar certificates using specific formulations designed to improve fire resistance, as reflected in their technical documentation.

With this certification, KRION strengthens its presence in the maritime sector, a highly specialised industry involving engineers, architects, interior designers and other professionals dedicated to nautical projects. Thanks to its properties, KRION can be used in vessel interiors for cladding, decorative elements, kitchens, bathrooms, signage, furniture and other applications.
